Ferragudo is a charming resort on one side of the estuary of the river Arade. The main square with it’s bars and cafés looks very smart.
The harbour boasts some fine fish restaurants, one of these is the Sueste. It has it’s own boat deliver the fish which is grilled on the quayside before being served/

Silves has a number of excellent restaurants and bars serving a range of excellent, mainly typically Portuguese, fare. For a more cosmopolitan menu, try Café Suzie close to the river’s edge or, at the top of the town, next to the castle, sample the roof terrace of Café Inglês, on a summer evening beneath the star lit sky and take in the wonderful view over the Arade valley as the occasional white owl swoops overhead.
